In the interest of preparedness, the East Alabama Amateur Radio Club is working to be certain that we are able to offer support in the event of a communication need with a simplex network capable of sending and relaying critical information. Periodic simplex nets are being conducted to establish the extent of simplex communications that are possible in the County and that information is being compiled using the tools below. This is an effort to Know Who Your Radio Neighbors AreThank you for your participation and reporting.
It is important for all of us to keep in mind the Club's EMCOMM (Emergency Communications) simplex frequency. This frequency is 146.420 MHz. Remember that it is critical that no squelch be used when attempting to communicate via simplex. Squelch should be off or set to zero.
Exercise nets, such as the ones conducted on Saturday mornings, are begun with a check-in on the 147.150 repeater (duplex). From there, we follow net control's directions, typically to QSY to simplex on either the national VHF calling frequency of 146.520 MHz or to our EMCOMM frequency 146.420 MHz
